    New Address: DadCooksDinner.com

    Published: Jan 3, 2010 · Modified: Feb 8, 2015 by Mike Vrobel · This post may contain affiliate links · 2 Comments

    You've probably noticed the recent design changes I've made to DadCooksDinner.  If you haven't yet, try out the options on my menu bar at the top of the page, including a Google search of this site.

    Here's another change - I now have my own address, DadCooksDinner.com!

    If you are linking directly to my site, please change the address to point to dadcooksdinner.com instead of dadcooksdinner.blogspot.com.

    If you are subscribing through my RSS feed or through email, everything should be seamless for you - my feedburner feed should remain the same.

    What do you think of the changes?  Anything else you'd like to see?  Let me know in the comments, below.

      @AYOTG:

      I have three reasons:

      1. Easier to explain. When I tell people I'm at "dadcooksdinner.blogspot.com", they don't remember the blogspot part. I have a couple of regular readers that seem to find me by searching google for "Dad Cooks Dinner" every time they want to find me. I thought this would make it easier.

      2. Branding. This one feels strange for me to talk about. In my mind, having my own domain seems more professional, even if I am just an enthusiastic amateur.

      3. It's only $10 a year. At that price, I said "why not?"

      The disadvantage is: I don't know what this will do to my google rankings.

      75% of my traffic comes from google searches for rotisserie recipes, and I'm trusting google not to mess up the transition for me. Also, everyone who links to my site currently is using the dadcooksdinner.blogspot.com address, so I'm hoping that Google can figure that out, too. I'm a little worried that I'm going to have to build up my rankings again with the new address.

      All in all, I'm glad I did it, even though I had to go through all my old posts and change the "Related posts" to point to the new address. I think it will work out better for me in the long run. (I hope...)

      Can I ask why you made the change from free to cost... what are the advantages???
