I'm off to Salt Lake City this week for the Everything Food Conference. I have never been to Utah or Salt Lake City, and I'm looking to my readers for suggestions.
Anyone out there been to SLC? If I have some a free afternoon or evening, where should I go, and what should I do? Any local food specialities I need to seek out?
Thank you,
Mike

A second for the Red Iguana. I dream about their mole!
Also, check out the gardens at Temple square. Even as a non Mormon I loved walking through there. It is beautiful!

When we were there two years ago, we really enjoyed Mazza Cafe, at 9th and 9th. It's Lebanese, and deliciously different. Delightfully quirky neighborhood with a fun novelty store nearby. Check it out on line.

I was born and raised in SLC. I just visited last week and FOOD is one of the things I miss the most!
-Red Iguana (Mexican, one of my all time faves) (go to Red Iguana 1, not 2 and the Blue Iguana is not the same thing)
-Oh Mai (AMAZING Vietnamese Sandwiches, etc)
-Ruth's Diner (awesome food and amazing views. sit on the patio, if possible)
-Crown Burgers (must try the pastrami burger and fries with FRY SAUCE!!)
-Bruges Waffles & Frites (awesome Belgium waffles and fries (to die for))
-Tony Caputo's Market & Deli (Italian deli)
-Blue Plate Diner
-Maxwell's East Coast Eatery (Pizza and Italian)
-Pat's BBQ (the best burnt ends, but make sure you're there for lunch early)
-Lucky 13 (Bar atmosphere, but awesome food)
-The Copper Onion (all local amazing food)
-Market Street Grill (if you like seafood)
-Lone Star Taqueria
You'll have to let me know what you like!
